How To Use Your Herbalife Weight Management Program
Keeping Track Of Your Progress
Get off to the right start with your Herbalife Weight Management Program by following these steps:
Before you start the program, at the beginning of day 1 weigh and measure yourself. Do this after you have been to the toilet and before you eat or drink anything, even water, and preferably without clothing. This will give you the most consistent results. Record the date and details according to the instructions in the Results Chart provided here to track your progress.
Measuring is very important as you may at times lose more cm’s than weight. You may not even lose any weight in the first week. Don’t be discouraged! The reason is that you are losing fat and building muscle, and muscle weighs more than fat.
Only weigh and measure yourself at the times specified on the Results Chart. Do not do it every day. Always weigh first thing in the morning.
You can reasonably expect to lose between 0.5 kg to 1 kg per week. This is the industry standard for weight management. It is also considered a healthy rate at which to lose weight.
Formula 1 Nutritional Shake Mix – Your Meal Replacement
Shake or blend three (3) level 15ml scoops (level tablespoons) in 250-300 ml light soy milk, lactose free milk, juice or anything low calorie – replace two meals a day for weight loss*, and eat one balanced meal. Planning Your Main Meal
The main meal is essential for additional nutrition and variety, and it is important that you have your main meal every day throughout the entire program. The main meal can be either lunch or dinner as you prefer.
Meat: Choose lean meat such as chicken, beef, lamb, or fish if you prefer. Stay away from processed meats like salami and sausages, as these are usually high in saturated fat. For a meat substitute or if you are a vegetarian, try eggs, cottage cheese, beans or tofu.
Vegetables & Fruit: Green salads and steamed, boiled or stir fried vegetables are a must in the main meal. They are low in calories and contain vitamins and minerals as well as dietary fibre, which is necessary to maintain normal bowel function. Most root vegetables are higher in calories, so use them in moderation. Most types of fruit can be used in the shakes, eaten with the main meal or as between-meal snacks. Dried fruit should be eaten sparingly as they are high in carbohydrates and calories.
Bread, Rice & Pasta: If you usually eat white bread, rice and pasta, switch to wholegrain versions, as they are better sources of fibre and complex carbohydrates. However, they should be eaten in small quantities. Stay away from processed or white flour products, especially cakes and cookies, as they are high in fat and calories and low in fibre.
This may surprise you but snacking is encouraged to handle any hunger pangs or cravings during the day. However it’s important to know which snacks are recommended. You can have 2 healthy snacks a day, each no more than 100-150 calories, and the best time to have them is mid-morning and mid-afternoon.
Fruit & Vegetable Snacks: Banana, apple, orange, pear, mandarin, melon, kiwi fruit, berries, etc. Grapes and mango are best kept to a minimum as they are very high in sugar. Carrots, celery and other raw vegetables are also great snacks.
Protein Snacks: Protein snacks are great as they help to control hunger as well as speed up metabolism. A couple of slices of lean ham, chicken or turkey, cottage cheese or low fat cheese of any kind, a boiled egg, tuna, left over chicken or meat or fish (such as a small piece of chicken breast, as long as it’s not battered or crumbed or covered in rich, creamy sauce. You can also have low fat yogurt with some cut up fruit or frozen fruit.
Another snack suggestion is a handful of raw almonds (about 15). The Herbalife Protein Bars are also delicious, particularly with the Instant Herbal Beverage. They are only 135 calories and 10g of Protein so are a great low calorie, high protein snack and a fantastic chocolate substitute if you have a “sweet tooth”!
Instant Herbal Beverage
The Instant Herbal Beverage is a delicious and refreshing tea, which mixes instantly in hot or cold water. It combines ancient herbal wisdom with modern science to keep you well hydrated and boost your vitality. It supports a healthy metabolism and is also rich in anti-oxidants. Mix 1/2 teaspoon with 200-250ml of hot or cold water and drink 3-5 times daily or more. If you drink it late at night it may keep you awake.
Take between 1/2 – 3/4 level teaspoon of the tea per serving in hot or cold water. It is taken two to three times a day. You may not want to drink the tea after dinner at night as it can keep you awake due to the energy it produces.
Depending on which program you have chosen there will be different tablets in the program. Take the tablets as per the instructions on the back of the bottle. It’s probably best to only take the NRG in the morning and at lunch but not in the evening as it may keep you awake due to the energy increase it can produce.
Water “Activates” The Program

The easiest way to make sure you get enough water is to have a 2 litre bottle of water with you (at work or home) which can be refilled each day with clean water. If you do not achieve drinking the 2 litres a day your results will not be as good and may even suffer as a result. However, if you do drink this amount or more a day not only will you not be hungry but you should see consistent weight management results each week.
Move Your Body!
The benefits of exercise are many, however people who try to lose weight just by exercising without changing their diet are setting themselves up for disappointment. We believe that a Healthy, Active Lifestyle consists of “20% Exercise, 80% Nutrition”. Adding some form of exercise, even walking for half an hour three days a week, will increase your health and well-being and may also increase the rate of your weight loss. We are often asked, “What is the best form of exercise?” The answer we usually give is this: “Any kind, as long as you do it!” So find something you enjoy doing, and if you can, exercise in a group or with a friend, so you can hold each other accountable. A body that gets absolutely no exercise will not be in great shape regardless of anything else.
